Being found is only the first step
The short answer
My view: discovery and usefulness belong in the same product conversation. SEO helps search engines find and understand pages. GEO describes efforts to appear in answers generated by AI. Neither replaces answering the visitor’s question or making the next action clear. A beautiful page that nobody finds and a discoverable page that nobody understands leave different halves of the same problem unresolved.
Answer one real question
Imagine someone asking whether an appointment includes an assessment. A useful page answers that, shows what happens next and offers a clear way to book. Repeating a keyword does not resolve their uncertainty. This is a hypothetical example, not a claim about a particular business.
Keep the foundations
Google says its established SEO practices remain relevant to its AI search features. Publish useful, accessible content and maintain a clear technical structure. Its guidance does not promise inclusion, and it does not describe a special file that guarantees AI visibility. Other platforms may work differently.
Follow the person after the click
I would check whether the page answers the question on a phone before adding more pages. Then I would examine relevant visits and completed actions separately. An appearance in an AI answer is evidence of visibility; it is not evidence that someone booked or bought.
