Display cables tend to make decisions for a desk long after the desk has changed. A connector that sticks straight out of a monitor can force the screen too far from the wall, put pressure on a port, or turn a clean setup into a cable problem. The tradeoff
Adapters create another connection point, so they should solve a real physical problem rather than be added automatically. Check clearance, direction, and port access before buying. For a monitor that must sit close to a wall or arm, these can make the difference between tidy and constantly in the way.
